Those sentenced include the then SSP of Moga at the time of the incident Davinder Singh Garcha, the then SP (Headquarters) Paramdeep Singh Sandhu, the then SHO Thana City Moga Raman Kumar and the then SHO Thana City Moga Inspector Amarjit Singh. The court has also sentenced Police Inspector Raman Kumar to an additional 3 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 lakh after finding him guilty under another section.

At the same time, Barjinder Singh alias Makhan Brar, son of Akali leader Tota Singh, and another accused Sukhraj Singh, who were made accused in the case, were acquitted due to lack of evidence.

The CBI court found Davinder Singh Garcha and Paramdeep Singh Sandhu guilty under sections 13(1)(d) read with 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act (PC Act). Raman Kumar and Amarjit Singh were also convicted under the same sections of the PC Act as well as section 384 (extortion) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Additionally, Amarjit Singh was found guilty under section 384 read with section 511 (attempt to commit offence) of the IPC.
