Turning machine into money-making empire: 17-year-old becomes millionaire with Christmas gift, earns ₹16 lakh/month
London (The Uttam Hindu): A young boy from Lancashire, England, has made headlines after becoming a millionaire at the age of 17. His journey to wealth began two years ago when his mother, Karen Newsham, gave him a unique gift – a digital drawing, cutting, and printing machine, worth ₹14,400. This gift sparked his interest, and he began creating stickers for personal decoration, which were well-received by children.
As demand for his stickers grew, he decided to share his work on Facebook. The response was overwhelming, with people contacting him to create personalized items. By the start of 2024, he was selling nearly 200 personalized items every month, allowing him to scale his business. Realizing the potential, the boy, named Kalen McDonald, decided to dedicate more time to his venture. He started working three hours a day after school and eventually dropped out of college to pursue his business full-time. He even invested in an industrial printer, which significantly boosted his earnings. Kalen is now on track to earn over ₹8 crore by the end of the financial year.
Reflecting on his success, Kalen said that his achievements are all thanks to the Christmas gift he received from his mother. "I never imagined that I would make this much money, but I knew that the gift would help me become successful. That's why I reinvested everything I earned into the business to help it grow," he added.
