Faith Shaken, Fast Broken: Bones Found in Dhaba Meal on Navratri in Mohali
Zirakpur, Mohali (The Uttam Hindu): A distressing incident has surfaced from Zirakpur in Mohali district, where a family observing the sacred Navratri fast was shocked to find bones in a dish served as vegetarian at a popular local eatery.
On Saturday, the auspicious occasion of Ashtami, residents Amardeep and Kanika from VIP Road, Zirakpur, visited Sethi Dhaba with their family to break their fast with what they believed would be a pure vegetarian meal. However, their experience took a disturbing turn when bones were discovered in the food served.
The family, who had been fasting for eight consecutive days in observance of Navratri, said their religious sentiments were deeply hurt by the discovery. Upon raising the issue with the dhaba staff, they were told that "Navratri is over today," a response that further upset them.
Responding to the allegations, the dhaba owner's son, Vansh Sethi, stated that the incident was the result of an error by the kitchen staff. He also claimed that the bones found were not of meat but rather from vegetables, although he did not specify what kind. The family, however, remained unconvinced by the explanation.
Angered by the incident and dissatisfied with the response, the family has decided to file an official complaint with the local food department. They are demanding strict action to prevent similar occurrences in the future, especially during religious festivals when sentiments run high.
The incident has sparked conversations around food safety, staff accountability, and the importance of sensitivity towards religious practices in public establishments.
