Joy Turns to Tragedy: Delhi Woman Killed in Roller Coaster Crash Months Before Wedding

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A 24-year-old woman tragically lost her life in a roller coaster accident at a popular amusement park on the outskirts of Delhi, just months before her planned wedding.

The victim, identified as Priyanka, had gone to Fun n Food Water Park near Kapashera in South West Delhi with her fiancé, Nikhil, on Thursday. What began as a joyful outing turned into a nightmare when a structural failure on a swing-style roller coaster led to her fatal fall.

According to police, the couple had arrived at the park around 1 p.m., enjoying water rides in the early afternoon before heading to the amusement section. At approximately 6:15 p.m., while on the ride, a support structure reportedly gave way as the swing reached its peak, causing Priyanka to fall from a significant height.

She sustained multiple critical injuries, including visible lacerations on her right leg, a puncture wound on the left, and trauma to her forearm and knee. Despite being rushed to the hospital by Nikhil, Priyanka succumbed to her injuries.

Priyanka, a sales manager at a private telecom firm in Noida, had been engaged since January 2023. The wedding was scheduled for February 2026. Her family shared that she was determined to achieve financial independence before marriage, a plan fully supported by her fiancé and both families. Her brother, Mohit, described the couple as deeply committed and supportive of each other’s dreams.

The incident has sparked concern over ride safety at amusement parks. Police have registered a First Information Report under Sections 289 and 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which address negligent conduct and culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

Authorities have sealed off the section of the park where the mishap occurred. The management of Fun and Food Village has not yet issued a public statement or responded to inquiries.

The case remains under investigation as Priyanka’s family mourns the loss of a daughter whose life was full of promise and plans.
