Jewar International Airport to Boost Farmers, Set to Become Asia's Largest by 2035

Noida(The Uttam Hindu): Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently met with farmers from the surrounding areas of the Noida Jewar International Airport and informed them about the project work going on. The CM has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the airport in April 2025, which will be a landmark moment for the region.

The new airport, which will become operational soon, will not only be a key hub for international and national air travel but will directly benefit the local farmers of the area. CM Yogi stated that the produce and crops of the region will easily reach both national as well as global markets which will further enhance the agriculture economy. The airport that is going to be the biggest in India in the following decade will have five runways in its first phase.

In view of the fourth round of land acquisition for the project, a delegation of farmers from the Jewar area met the CM Yogi in Lucknow. In the talks, it was announced that the compensation for acquired land will go up from ₹3,100 per square meter to ₹4,300 per square meter. Other negotiations on interest rates also happen.

Once completed, Noida Jewar International Airport will be Asia's largest and the fourth-largest in the world. This will help ease congestion at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport, which currently handles all air traffic for the Delhi-NCR region. About 30 scheduled domestic and international flights will function on the day of the launch. IndiGo Airlines would operate the first one, while tickets for other available flights are likely to start coming out by February 2025, three months in advance of the launch.
