New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): 26/11 Mumbai terror attack accused Tahawwur Hussain Rana is being extradited from the US and brought to Delhi on Thursday afternoon by a special plane. Mumbai attack accused Tahawwur Rana will reach Delhi this afternoon, will be kept in Tihar; will be produced in NIA court: According to sources, Rana will be produced in Delhi's Patiala House Court where the NIA will seek his custody. However, due to the court being closed on account of Mahavir Jayanti, he may be produced before the special NIA judge through video conferencing. If virtual appearance is not possible, he will be produced physically at the judge's residence.

This high-profile case will be heard in a special NIA court in Delhi. In February 2024, the Patiala House Court had ordered the transfer of all records related to the case from Mumbai to Delhi, so that now the hearing of this case will be done entirely in Delhi. For this reason, Tahawwur Rana will not be taken to Mumbai.

Who is Tahawwur Hussain Rana?

Tahawwur Hussain Rana is a former captain of the Pakistan Army and a Canadian businessman. He is accused of misusing his immigration firm in the US to provide fake documents to 26/11 attack co-conspirator David Headley, which were used for the recce of the attack in Mumbai. According to information, Rana himself had visited Mumbai in November 2008 and stayed at the Renaissance Hotel in Powai and reviewed the logistical preparations for the attack. Rana's arrest is considered a major success for the Indian government and security agencies, which is expected to reveal more layers of the deep conspiracy of the 26/11 attacks.
