BJP Accused of Election Bribery in Nilokheri, Karnal

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Just a night before the municipal elections in Nilokheri, Karnal, the BJP has been accused of attempting to influence voters by distributing sweets and "shogun" envelopes containing money. A video showing the alleged incident has gone viral on social media, in which a car with the BJP MLA's flag is seen delivering the envelopes. The envelopes, which were being distributed to voters, are said to have contained money.

Allegations from the Public

In the viral video, a policeman and another individual are seen trying to convince onlookers that the envelopes are empty and contain only sweets. However, people claim that numerous envelopes were found in the car, and as soon as a voter was approached, money was quickly placed in the envelope and handed over.

Residents questioned the purpose of carrying such a large number of envelopes, arguing that if the vehicle was indeed meant to distribute gifts for a wedding, there wouldn't be a need for so many envelopes. The presence of such a large number of envelopes raised suspicions, as Nilokheri is not known for hosting a large number of weddings at once.

The public immediately surrounded the vehicle, calling it a clear violation of the election code of conduct. The incident has sparked significant controversy just before the elections.
