Jalandhar Commissionerate police busts inter state drug racket
Jalandhar (The Uttam Hindu): Jalandhar Commissionerate Police led by Commissioner of Police Mr Swapan Sharma has busted an inter-state drug racket by arresting the three with 14 quintals (1400 Kg) of poppy husk and two vehicles.
Divulging more details, the Commissioner of Police said that on a tip off a Police party has laid seize near adda Thabalke, where they spotted a Bolero numbered PB09-Q-4590 coming at high speed towards the Jamsher-Jandiala Road Gate, followed by another vehicle, an Innova numbered PB08-DS-3994. He said that when the Bolero was signalled to stop, the driver braked hard, causing the Innova vehicle to collide with the Bolero. Mr Swapan Sharma said that during investigation the person in Bolero vehicle identified themselves as Guravtar Singh @ Tari, son of Pyara Singh, resident of Village Bhode, Tehsil Phillaur, Jalandhar, and Des Raj, son of Nachattar Singh, resident of Village Dharam Singh Diyan Channa, near Mehatpur, Jalandhar.
Likewise, the Commissioner of Police said that the driver of Innova car driver identified himself as Daler Singh @ Dalora, son of Surjeet Singh, resident of Village Dharam Singh Diyan Channa, near Mehatpur, Jalandhar. He said that When the vehicles were checked, the plastic bags loaded in the Bolero were counted, revealing a total of 55 bags of 20 kg each containing poppy husk. Mr Swapan Sharma said that Additionally, 15 bags of poppy husk were found in the Innova car adding that 14 quintals (1400 Kg) of poppy husk were recovered from them.
The Commissioner of Police said that FIR No. 226 dated 15.11.2024 under Section 15/61/85 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Sadar, Jalandhar, and the accused, Guravtar Singh @ Tari, Des Raj, and Daler Singh @ Dalora, were arrested.
