Farmers' Maha Panchayat at Khanauri Border: Dalewal Brought on Stretcher, Police on Alert
Khanauri (The Uttam Hindu): Farmers have raised their voices against the central government, continuing their protest despite the cold weather in an effort to demand their rights. A Maha Panchayat is currently underway at the Khanauri Border between Punjab and Haryana.
Thousands of farmers have gathered for the Maha Panchayat and farmer leader Jagjeet Singh Dalewal was brought to the stage on a stretcher. He is expected to address the crowd shortly. Dalewal has been on an indefinite fast for the past 40 days, urging farmers from across the country to join the protest at Khanauri Border on January 4. Meanwhile, another Maha Panchayat is taking place in Tohana, Haryana organized by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha, where farmer leader Rakesh Tikait has also arrived. Tikait stated that the ongoing movement at Khanauri Border is being controlled by the central government, which aims to prolong the protest.
In light of the Maha Panchayat, the police in Haryana are on high alert. Security forces have been deployed at various locations and efforts are underway to prevent individuals from reaching the protest site.
