Jaipur Gang Fooled Myntra: ₹1.1 Crore Lost in Refund Scam

Bengaluru(The Uttam Hindu): Myntra, one of India's leading e-commerce fashion platforms, has been defrauded of ₹1.1 crore in a sophisticated refund scam orchestrated by a gang from Jaipur. The fraud, which took place between March and June this year, was uncovered during an internal audit.

As the police officials point out, the gang put in bulk orders for such branded products as shoes, apparel, handbags, cosmetics, and jewelry via Myntra's app or portal. They made either online payments or COD (cash on delivery). Then, after having received the consignment, they would file complaints of shortages or colours not matching that too. For instance, a customer who had reportedly ordered ten pairs of shoes would file a complaint that she had only received five pairs.

More than 5,500 such fake orders were delivered in Bengaluru. The accused persons appear to be from Jaipur and used commercial establishments for delivery addresses like tea stalls, tailor shops, and others. Now, the police are further inquiring into the matter.
