New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Following the mandate from TRAI to enhance transparency in the telecom sector and empower users, Telecom Service Providers (TSPs) have published telecom coverage maps on their websites. The coverage maps provide various user-friendly features for easy access and navigation with a standard color scheme.

It also provides an option to view the coverage of 2G, 3G, 4G or 5G provided by the respective telecom company in their area. According to the Ministry of Communications, users can enable the search option or location on their device to navigate to their current location. The toggle switch or technology selection button can be used to view the coverage map of the technology of their interest (3G, 4G or 5G).

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has made it mandatory for all telecom companies (wireless) to make the network coverage map available through their website, which will give users more information about network coverage. According to TRAI, all telecom companies had to complete the task of publishing the network coverage map by April 1, 2025.

TRAI said that mobile users can share their feedback with their service providers or report any major discrepancy in coverage through the user feedback feature available on the coverage map. However, users need to note that the actual mobile coverage experience may sometimes differ from the coverage shown in the map. Mobile network coverage maps are not only useful for consumers, but also indicate the status of telecom coverage across the country, which can be used by various stakeholders for planning and implementing them.
