Good News: Women-focused financial aid scheme and free treatment initiative to launch tomorrow; registration from home

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Starting Monday, the Women’s Honor Scheme and Sanjeevani Scheme will kick off in Delhi, with registration beginning for both initiatives. Former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and current Chief Minister Atishi will inaugurate the registration process. Under the Women’s Honor Scheme, ₹2,100 will be provided to women in Delhi, while the Sanjeevani Scheme promises free treatment for individuals above 60 years of age. Kejriwal stated that approximately 35 to 40 lakh women could benefit from the Women’s Honor Scheme, while around 10 to 15 lakh senior citizens are expected to gain from the health initiative.

As part of the Women’s Honor Scheme, the Delhi government has pledged ₹2,100 per month to eligible women. Registration for the scheme will commence on Monday. According to Arvind Kejriwal, women will not need to visit any centers for registration. Instead, dedicated teams will visit homes to facilitate the registration process. Kejriwal emphasized that women do not have to stand in queues or waste time. Starting Monday, December 23, teams from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will visit households across Delhi. Every woman in the house will be registered and issued a card, which must be kept safely. This door-to-door approach is designed to ensure convenience for women.

On Sunday, Arvind Kejriwal also highlighted the Sanjeevani Scheme. Under this program, individuals above 60 years will receive free medical treatment. Both government and private hospitals will provide healthcare, with all expenses borne by the Delhi government. Kejriwal expressed concerns about the lack of focus on the middle class, stating that no one has addressed their needs so far. Many middle-class individuals work tirelessly, paying income tax and GST throughout their lives, contributing to the nation’s growth. However, after retirement, these individuals often face neglect from their own families. Kejriwal remarked that one of the biggest worries for senior citizens is access to medical care during illnesses.

He reassured the elderly, saying there is no need to worry. The much-anticipated registration for this scheme will also begin on Monday, December 23. Teams visiting households will handle registration for both the Sanjeevani Scheme and the Women’s Honor Scheme. Kejriwal mentioned that only Delhi residents with valid voter IDs can avail of these benefits. He also advised residents to keep their voter cards ready when the teams visit. Additionally, he urged people to regularly check their voter status online to ensure their names haven’t been removed from the electoral rolls. If names are missing, residents are encouraged to report the issue, so necessary corrections can be made.
