Sanjeev Arora Promises Action on Setting Up a Welfare Board for Transgender Community in Punjab
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora has pledged to support the transgender community's request for a dedicated welfare board in Punjab. Speaking at the Ficci Flow Ludhiana event on Wednesday, a member of the transgender community highlighted the absence of such a board in the state, noting that other states have already established them. Arora, who was unaware of the issue, assured him that he would bring it up with the relevant minister.
Arora also touched on various development projects in progress, such as the construction of the Halwara airport, an elevated road, four new bridges on the Sidhwan canal, and upgrades to ESI and civil hospitals. He mentioned that many of these projects were either completed or nearing completion due to his intervention.
In the interactive session, Arora explained that the delays in the Halwara airport project were caused by pending clearances from the Indian Air Force, the Airports Authority of India, and the Forest Department. However, he expressed confidence that flight operations would resume soon.
The event, organized with AIPL Dream City, also featured Arora and Ludhiana Mayor Inderjit Kaur honoring various NGOs for their contributions to society. Shweta Jindal, the newly appointed president of FICCI Flow Ludhiana, shared her vision of fostering collaboration and driving positive social change.
Mentors Rajni Baxter, Rashmi Baxter, Sandhya Arora, and Sakshi Arora were also in attendance.
