Delhi schools shift to online mode amid alarming pollution levels

Update: 2024-11-18 02:06 GMT

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): In response to the alarming rise in pollution levels across the capital, the Delhi government announced on Sunday that students of all schools up to Class 9 will shift to online classes starting Monday. This directive will remain in effect until further notice.

However, physical classes for students in Grades 10 and 12 will continue as scheduled.

Chief Minister Atishi confirmed the decision via a post on X, stating, "With the imposition of GRAP-4 from tomorrow, physical classes shall be discontinued for all students, apart from Class 10 and 12. All schools will hold online classes, until further orders."

The implementation of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP-4) is the government's response to combat the severe air quality crisis affecting the city. This measure aims to safeguard the health of students and reduce their exposure to the toxic air.

Authorities have urged residents to take precautions and avoid outdoor activities as pollution levels remain hazardous. Further updates on school operations and additional measures are expected in the coming days.
