Thane (The Uttam Hindu): A 45-year-old man in Kalyan, Maharashtra, has been booked for giving triple talaq to his 28-year-old second wife after she refused to sleep with his boss and provide ₹15 lakh for his first wife. The accused, identified as Sohail Sheikh, is a software engineer. Sohail married his second wife in January 2024.

Shortly after the marriage, he reportedly expressed his desire to divorce his first wife, claiming he needed a substantial sum of money for the separation. He allegedly forced his second wife to ask her parents for ₹15 lakh per month to facilitate the divorce, a demand she refused. The situation escalated when Sohail allegedly pressured his second wife to sleep with his boss during a party. After she denied his demand, Sohail reportedly assaulted her, pronounced triple talaq, and forced her to leave their home.

The woman filed a complaint at a local police station on December 19, accusing Sohail of physical and mental abuse, coercion, and unlawful divorce through triple talaq. The case was initially registered at Sambhaji Nagar City Police Station and later transferred to Bazar Peth Police Station for further investigation. Police officials confirmed that an investigation into the allegations, including coercion involving Sohail’s boss, is ongoing. Despite the gravity of the accusations, no arrests have been made so far.
