Gas Cylinder Prices Surge in March – Here’s How Much You’ll Pay Now
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The country has witnessed a rise in gas cylinder prices at the very beginning of March. The price hike has been observed specifically in commercial gas cylinders, while domestic gas cylinder prices remain unchanged.
After two months of price cuts, the cost of commercial gas cylinders has now increased by ₹6 per cylinder.
Inflation Shock for the Public: Gas Cylinder Prices Rise – Check the New Rates
For almost a year, the price of domestic gas cylinders has remained the same. The last major change was on March 9 last year, just before Holi, when the government reduced domestic gas cylinder prices by **₹100**. With the Holi festival approaching again this March, there is speculation that the government **may announce another price cut**.
Latest Commercial Gas Cylinder Prices in Major Cities
According to IOCL (Indian Oil Corporation Limited) data, the price of commercial gas cylinders has increased in Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai. The revised prices in these metropolitan cities are:
- Delhi: ₹1,803
- Kolkata: ₹1,913
- Mumbai: ₹1,755.50
- Chennai: ₹1,965 (an increase of ₹5.5)
Before this hike, January and February saw price cuts in commercial gas cylinders. Over the past two months:
- Delhi & Mumbai witnessed a total price reduction of 21.5
- Kolkata saw a decrease of ₹20
- Chennai recorded a reduction of ₹21
This price adjustment marks the first increase after two months of decline in commercial gas cylinder rates.
