Jalandhar police solve murder case, arrest wife and lover for plotting husband's killing

Jalandhar (The Uttam Hindu): The Jalandhar Rural Police have successfully cracked the murder case of Mukesh Kumar, a resident of Tilak Nagar, Jalandhar. The police arrested his wife, Neeru Bala, and her lover, Harpreet Singh alias Happy, after they were found to have conspired to kill Mukesh. The police recovered the murder weapon, a sharp-edged datar, and two motorcycles, including the one belonging to the deceased.

The incident occurred on December 20, 2024, when Mukesh Kumar’s body was found near Village Mudh, in the Alua area, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Sadar Nakodar. Following the discovery, a case was registered against unknown persons at the police station. The investigation, led by DSP Nakodar Sukhpal Singh and overseen by SI Baljinder Singh, was conducted with the help of technical expertise and intelligence inputs. Within days, the police were able to apprehend the accused.

According to the initial investigation, Neeru Bala and Harpreet Singh, both employees at D-Mart in Jalandhar, had developed an illicit relationship. To eliminate Mukesh Kumar and marry each other, they planned and carried out the murder. Harpreet Singh attacked Mukesh with the datar on the night of the crime. The police recovered the weapon used in the murder and the motorcycles of both the victim and the suspects. Both Neeru Bala and Harpreet Singh are currently in police custody and are being questioned further. SSP Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh emphasized that such crimes will not be tolerated in the district, and swift action will be taken to ensure justice is served.
