Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): An FIR has been registered against Congress MLA and Leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly, Pratap Singh Bajwa, following his controversial statement claiming that 50 bombs have arrived in Punjab — 18 of which have allegedly exploded while 32 are still unaccounted for. His remarks triggered a major political uproar, leading the Punjab Police to take swift action.
Soon after Bajwa’s statement went public, police officials arrived at his Sector-8 residence in Chandigarh for questioning. However, according to sources, he failed to provide any concrete information regarding his claim. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann condemned the statement, calling it “irresponsible” and accused Bajwa of spreading panic among the public. Mann questioned the credibility and source of such sensitive information, demanding to know whether Bajwa had links with anti-national elements.
CM Mann also criticized Bajwa for allegedly using fear-mongering for political mileage and asked why no immediate action was taken if the claim was indeed true. Taking the matter seriously, the Punjab Police have initiated legal proceedings and arrested Bajwa for allegedly disseminating false information. Investigations are underway to verify the authenticity of his claim and uncover the intent behind such a serious assertion.
