Fake Facebook profile of Jalandhar Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma found: Legal action underway

Jalandhar (The Uttam Hindu): A fake Facebook profile of Jalandhar’s Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma has recently been discovered. Cyber fraudsters created a fraudulent Facebook account in his name and sent multiple messages posing as him.

Swapan Sharma, Jalandhar’s Police Commissioner has confirmed that the Facebook account is completely fake and assured that legal action is being taken against those responsible. This is not the first time such impersonation has occurred as cyber criminals previously created a fake Facebook ID in his name to send messages to numerous people in Ludhiana.

For those unaware, Swapan Sharma is a 2009 batch IPS officer. Prior to becoming Jalandhar’s Police Commissioner, he served as DIG in Jalandhar and as SSP in Jalandhar’s rural areas. An engineering graduate from Giani Zail Singh College, Bathinda. He cleared the Himachal Pradesh Administrative Services exam in 2008. His first posting was as Block Development Officer in Chaupal, Shimla.
