Woman arrested in Delhi for cheating with false US immigration scheme, stole Rs 2.5 lakh

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): In a recent development Bhargo Camp police have arrested a woman from Delhi in connection with a fraud case involving a promise to send a family member to America. The accused Gurmeet Kaur had allegedly deceived Paramjit Kaur a resident of Green Avenue, Kala Sanghian Road by claiming she could arrange for Paramjit's relative, Sandeep Singh to travel to the US. In exchange, Gurmeet Kaur had convinced Paramjit to deposit Rs. 2.5 lakh into her account. Despite months passing, Gurmeet Kaur neither returned the money nor arranged the promised travel. Paramjit filed a complaint with the police and after a detailed investigation, authorities recommended filing a case against Gurmeet Kaur. However, Gurmeet Kaur evaded arrest for some time. Based on reliable information, ASI Balwinder Singh traveled to Delhi and successfully apprehended the accused.

This case highlights the growing issue of fraudulent schemes, where individuals are lured by promises of foreign opportunities. Gurmeet Kaur’s arrest serves as a reminder of the importance of caution when dealing with promises that sound too good to be true.
