VIDEO: President Draupadi Murmu Honors Gukesh, Harmanpreet and Manu Bhaker with Khel Ratna

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): President Draupadi Murmu presented the Sports and Adventure Awards 2024 at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The President conferred the country's highest Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award to the youngest world chess champion D Gukesh, Paris Olympics bronze medal-winning men's hockey team captain Harmanpreet Singh, shooter Manu Bhaker who won two bronze medals in Paris, and para-athlete Praveen Kumar at the Sports Awards ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Friday. 

While Subhash Rana was awarded the Dronacharya Award, Deepali Deshpande was awarded the Dronacharya Award for outstanding coaching in shooting. Hockey coach Sandeep Sangwan received the Dronacharya Award for his outstanding contribution to Indian hockey. 

President Draupadi Murmu conferred Dronacharya Award on Subhash Rana for his exceptional coaching and helping athletes excel in international para-shooting competitions. The President presented the prestigious Arjuna Award to boxer Neetu. The President also presented the Arjuna Award to athlete Annu Rani.

President Draupadi Murmu presented Arjun Award to chess player Vantika Agarwal. While football coach Armando Agnelo Colaso ​​was awarded Dronacharya Award. Badminton coach S. Muralidharan received the Dronacharya Award from President Draupadi Murmu for his exceptional coaching and helping athletes excel in international badminton events. Boxer Sweety received the Arjuna Award from President Draupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. She has won the gold medal in the IBA Women's World Boxing Championship.
