US Responds to Russia’s Ukraine Attack: Defense Department Issued Key Directives
Washington (The Uttam Hindu): The United States has expressed outrage over Russia's attack on Ukraine early on Christmas morning. President Joe Biden strongly condemned the assault, reaffirming America's unwavering support for Ukraine. Biden stated that the U.S. Defense Department would further enhance the supply of weapons to Ukraine, underscoring his commitment to strengthening Ukraine's defenses. "In the early hours of Christmas, Russia launched drone and missile attacks on Ukrainian cities and power plants," Biden said, highlighting that the strikes aimed to disrupt Ukraine’s access to heat and electricity during the harsh winter, endangering the country's energy grid.
Biden emphasized that Ukrainians have the fundamental right to live in peace and security. He also called on the international community to unite in support of Ukraine. The president reiterated America's ongoing military assistance, noting that the U.S. has already supplied hundreds of air defense missiles to Ukraine, with more to come. He announced that he has instructed the Defense Department to ensure a continued and consistent flow of weapons to bolster Ukraine's position. "The United States will remain steadfast in its efforts to strengthen Ukraine," Biden added.
