"India Responds Strongly to Canada: 'No Evidence in Nijjar's Murder Case, Such Allegations Harm Bilateral Relations'"
New Delhi (Uttam Hindu News): The Central Government informed the Lok Sabha that Canada has not presented any evidence to support its serious allegations. In a written response, Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh stated that such narratives could damage bilateral relations. The government also acknowledged being aware of the allegations against Indian citizens in both the United States and Canada.
As part of ongoing cooperation with the US, certain information shared by the US side relating to nexus between criminals, terrorists and others which also impact India's national security interests is being investigated at a high level. As far as Canada is concerned, it has not provided any evidence to support the allegations.
Congress MP asked the government
Congress MP Manish Tiwari asked the government in the Lok Sabha whether it has taken note of the alleged criminal activities involving Indians in the US and Canada. On this, Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh said, 'The government is aware of the allegations of involvement of Indian citizens in alleged acts or intentions in the US and Canada.'
The Minister of State further said, "As part of the ongoing security cooperation with the United States, certain inputs shared by the US side relating to nexus between organised criminals, gun runners, terrorists and others which also impact India's national security interests are being investigated at a high-level. An investigation committee has been constituted for this purpose."
The minister further said, 'As far as Canada is concerned, it has not produced any evidence in support of the serious allegations it has made.' Manish Tewari further asked the Centre about the impact of these allegations on our bilateral relations with the US and Canada, whether the government is diplomatically engaged with the countries and what measures have been taken by the Centre to ensure the safety of Indian citizens in the countries in case of any possible fallout of these cases.
