Horrific Bus Crash in Maharashtra’s Gondia: Bus Overturns While Avoiding Bike, 9 Dead
Agra(The Uttam Hindu): A fatal bus accident took place on November 29 on the Gondia-Kohmara State Highway near Khajri village, killing at least nine people and injuring hundreds of others. The incident happened around noon when Shivshahi bus MH 09/EM 1273, traveling from Bhandara to Gondia, overturned in order not to collide with a motorcycle. The bus was on a sharp curve to Gondia via Sakoli and Lakhani when the motorcycle appeared unexpectedly. The driver swerved in an attempt to avoid the collision but lost control, causing the bus to overturn.
There were 35 passengers in the vehicle at the time of the accident, and emergency services were present at the scene shortly after the accident occurred. The number of fatalities is likely to rise as rescue operations are still underway. Eyewitness accounts suggest that the driver ran away from the spot after the accident. The injured passengers were rushed to KTS District Hospital in Gondia with the help of ambulances and police personnel.
The caretaker Chief Minister of Maharashtra has expressed condolences to the families of the victims and has directed the Transport Administration to provide immediate financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh to the affected people. The police are investigating the circumstances of the accident and where the driver is at present.
