New Delhi(The Uttam Hindu): After several farmers and leaders were injured by tear gas shelling from Haryana Police, protesting unions Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) and Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM-NP) decided to recall the group of 101 farmers marching towards Delhi.

On Friday, the farmers began their foot march from Shambhu border but were stopped by barricades. Haryana Police cited a prohibitory order under Section 163 of the BNSS, preventing further movement. “We have called back the 'jatha' due to the injuries suffered by some farmers,” said Sarwan Singh Pandher. The farmers are demanding a legal guarantee for the minimum support price of crops. Meanwhile, Ambala district imposed a ban on unlawful assembly of five or more persons.

Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher announced that the 'jatha' has been called back for today due to injuries sustained by some farmers. The group, originally set to leave tomorrow, will now depart the day after at 12 PM.

Pandher also mentioned that the Haryana Police SP inquired about the level of talks they sought with the central government. The farmers are willing to engage with a central minister, especially the Agriculture Minister. The SP assured that their request would be forwarded, and the farmers have given the government one day to address the injured and begin talks, postponing their march for a day.
