Delhi's Toxic Air: AQI Crosses 450, Authorities Issue Orange Alert for Public Safety

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The average Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi till 7 am on Thursday morning is 448 points. While in Delhi NCR city Faridabad is 289, Gurugram is 370, Ghaziabad is 386, Greater Noida is 351 and Noida is 366. Dense fog is looming in many areas.

In most parts of the capital Delhi, the AQI level remains between 400 and above 500. 450 in Alipur, 478 in Anand Vihar, 472 in Ashok Vihar, 454 in Bawana, 473 in Burari Crossing, 467 in Mathura Road, 451 in Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range, 459 in DTU, 460 in Dwarka Sector 8, 475 in ITO, 478 in Jahangirpuri, 447 in Jawaharlal Nehru Station, 458 in Major Dhyanchand Stadium, 444 in Mandir Marg, 458 in Mundka, 404 in Najafgarh, 441 in Narela, 485 in Nehru Nagar, 445 in North Campus DU, 467 in Okhla Phase 2, 468 in Patparganj, 476 in Punjabi Bagh, 438 in Pusa, 457 in RK Puram, 470 in Rohini, 466 in Siri Fort, Sonia Vihar 463, 419 in Sri Aurobindo Marg, 475 in Vivek Vihar, 482 in Wazirpur are constructed.

Dense fog engulfed parts of Delhi and adjoining areas like Noida, Ghaziabad and Gurugram on Thursday. A thick layer of haze engulfed the national capital today as well, affecting visibility. Meanwhile, other parts of North India are also in the grip of severe cold and temperatures remain below freezing point in parts of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.

While cold wave conditions persist in the lower hilly and plain areas of Himachal Pradesh, the local Meteorological Department has warned of severe cold wave in four out of 12 districts of the state till Saturday. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange warning of cold to severe cold wave at some places in the lower hilly areas of Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur and Mandi districts, while a yellow warning of cold wave has been issued in Chamba and Kangra districts till Saturday.
