Hoax Bomb Threats at Delhi's Red Fort, Jama Masjid; Agencies on High Alert

Update: 2025-04-10 11:01 GMT

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A fake bomb threat targeting Delhi's historic landmarks — the Red Fort and Jama Masjid — caused a security scare on Thursday morning. The alert was raised after a phone call was received at 9:03 AM, claiming the presence of a bomb at both sites. Security agencies, along with Delhi Fire Services, immediately launched an investigation.

A fire tender was dispatched, and thorough checks were carried out at both locations. However, no suspicious object was found during the searches. Authorities confirmed it was a hoax call but took the incident seriously due to the sensitive security environment in the capital. Red Fort and Jama Masjid are two of the most visited historical and religious sites in Delhi, drawing thousands of tourists and worshippers daily. Following the threat, police and other security forces increased patrolling and surveillance in the surrounding areas to ensure public safety.

An investigation is now underway to trace the origin of the call and identify the individual or group responsible for spreading panic. Officials stated that such acts are not only unlawful but also waste crucial resources and create unnecessary fear among the public. In light of recent false bomb threat incidents across various parts of the country, authorities have urged citizens to remain calm and not fall prey to rumours. The situation at both Red Fort and Jama Masjid is now under control, with normal activity resumed and no threat to visitors.
