AI Miracle: ChatGPT Diagnoses and Fixes Health Issue Unsolved for 5 Years
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A Reddit user has credited ChatGPT with resolving a persistent jaw issue that had troubled him for five long years—within just one minute. The post, which has now gone viral, was even shared by LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman, sparking fresh debate on the growing role of AI in healthcare.
According to the post, the user suffered from constant clicking in the jaw, believed to be the result of a boxing injury. Despite consulting an ENT specialist, undergoing two MRIs, and seeing a maxillofacial expert, the problem remained unresolved. In frustration, the user turned to ChatGPT for answers.
To his surprise, the AI suggested that the jaw disc might be slightly dislocated but still movable. It recommended a specific tongue placement and mouth-opening technique focusing on symmetry. "I followed ChatGPT’s instructions for a maximum of one minute—and suddenly, no more click," the user wrote. "After living with this problem for five years, AI gave me a solution in one minute. Unreal."
Reid Hoffman, while acknowledging the power of AI, responded to a user who claimed "doctors would hate ChatGPT" by saying, “I’m not sure they would. If implemented properly, AI could help doctors work faster, reduce admin load, and treat more patients.”
However, the incident has reignited debate around the risks of relying on AI tools for medical advice. While experts caution against replacing professional care, the post highlights how AI could potentially complement conventional diagnosis—if used responsibly.
