Trump Declares War on India’s Economy – 100% Tariffs Incoming!

Washington(The Uttam Hindu): During a high-profile address to a joint session of the U.S. Congress, former President Donald Trump made strong remarks about international trade policies, vowing to impose equal tariffs on countries that levy high duties on American goods. His speech, marked by a tough stance on economic policies and a sharp critique of his successor Joe Biden, quickly became a subject of intense discussion.

Trump emphasized that the U.S. has been at a disadvantage in global trade, facing excessive tariffs from other countries. He specifically mentioned India, China, Mexico, and Canada, claiming that these nations impose significantly higher tariffs on American products than the U.S. does on theirs. He pointed out that India imposes over 100% tariffs, China charges double, and South Korea imposes four times as much despite receiving military aid from the U.S. To counter this, Trump announced that starting April 2, his administration would enforce a reciprocal tariff policy—whatever tariff a country imposes on the U.S., America will impose the same in return.

Beyond trade policies, Trump took the opportunity to attack President Joe Biden’s leadership, calling him the worst president in U.S. history. He blamed Biden’s administration for economic struggles and rising illegal immigration, arguing that during his own presidency, immigration was under control. He insisted that America’s economy had been strong under his leadership and that it was now time to reclaim that prosperity.

Trump also made a highly controversial statement regarding gender identity. He claimed that in just 43 days, his administration had achieved what had not been accomplished in the previous four years. As part of his reforms, he declared that USAID (United States Agency for International Development) had been abolished. He further announced that the U.S. would now officially recognize only two genders—male and female—eliminating any legal acknowledgment of a third gender.

His statements received mixed reactions, with his supporters praising his hardline stance and critics condemning his policies as regressive and discriminatory. While Trump’s speech reignited debates on tariffs, trade policies, and social reforms, it also underscored the deep political divisions in the country. As the 2024 elections draw closer, his words serve as a preview of the policies he may push if he returns to office.
