New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Prime Minister Narendra Modi distributed 65 lakh ownership property cards on Saturday. More than 50,000 villages in 12 states participated in this. During this, the Prime Minister said that in the last 5 years, these ownership cards have been given to about 1.5 crore people.

PM Modi attended this event in virtual mode. The 12 states and union territories in which these cards were distributed include more than 50 thousand villages in 230 districts.

Addressing the beneficiaries, PM Modi said, today is a very historic day for the villages of the country, for the rural economy. The ownership scheme was started 5 years ago so that the people living in the villages could be given their legal proof. In the last 5 years, these ownership cards have been given to about 1.5 crore people. Today, more than 65 lakh families have received these ownership cards in this program.

Along with this, the Prime Minister also mentioned the challenges related to climate change. He said, in the 21st century world, there are many challenges like climate change, water shortage, health crisis, epidemics, but the world has been facing another big challenge and this challenge is of property rights. Many years ago, the United Nations did a study on land property in many countries of the world. This study revealed that in many countries of the world, people do not have proper legal documents of property. The United Nations clearly said that if poverty is to be reduced, then it is very important to have property rights for this.

Let us tell you, the Swamitva Yojana was started in April 2020. Its full name is Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Villages Area. Its objective is to provide ownership rights of properties to the villagers. So far 31 states and union territories have joined this scheme.
