Anahat Singh and Ameeshenraj Chandaran clinch titles at western India squash slam
Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): In a dominant display, defending champion Anahat Singh triumphed over top-seeded Akanksha Salunkhe to win the women’s singles title at the Western India Slam 2024, a USD 9,000 PSA Challenger event held at the Cricket Club of India courts in Mumbai. The 16-year-old, seeded second, defeated world No. 70 Akanksha 3-0 (11-8, 11-8, 11-8) in just 25 minutes. This victory marked Anahat’s ninth PSA Challenger title of the year and her first win over Akanksha in a PSA event.
In the men’s singles final, second-seed Ameeshenraj Chandaran from Malaysia claimed the title after a hard-fought 3-1 (15-13, 6-11, 11-5, 11-3) win against the top-seeded Viktor Byrtus of the Czech Republic. The match, lasting 60 minutes, saw Chandaran showcase his resilience and tactical play.
