New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has put an end to speculation surrounding his possible retirement from cricket. In a brief yet effective Instagram story, Jadeja wrote, "No unnecessary rumors, thanks," accompanied by a 'folded hands' and a 'salute' emoji. This message comes on the heels of India's thrilling victory over New Zealand in the 2025 Champions Trophy final. Jadeja played a crucial role in the win, claiming the important wicket of Tom Latham and hitting the winning shot in the second innings. Rumors of Jadeja's retirement had been circulating for some time, citing his age (36), his retirement from T20Is, and India's absence from the ongoing World Test Championship. However, Jadeja's Instagram post has quashed these speculations, echoing the sentiments of Indian captain Rohit Sharma, who also denied retirement rumors earlier.

Jadeja's performance in the Champions Trophy has been impressive, with 21 wickets in 15 matches, making him India's highest wicket-taker in the tournament. His importance to the team was highlighted by head coach Gautam Gambhir before the final. While Jadeja's message has put an end to retirement rumors for now, it is likely that the 2025 Champions Trophy was his last appearance in the tournament, with the next edition scheduled for 2029, by which time he will be over 40.
