Shimla witnesses BJP Yuva Morcha's 'Samosa March' in a show of unity
Shimla (The Uttam Hindu): Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) workers organized a 'Samosa March' in Shimla on Saturday, in the midst of the ongoing controversy over the 'samosa incident' involving Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu's staff.
The protest follows a CID investigation into samosas and cake that were mistakenly served to the CM's staff instead of the Chief Minister. The CID inquiry was sparked by an incident during an event at the CID headquarters on October 21, when food intended for CM Sukhu was inadvertently handed over to his staff.
In response to the controversy, CM Sukhu addressed the matter, clarifying that the CID’s involvement was related to an incident of misbehavior, not the samosa issue itself. He criticized the media for sensationalizing the situation, stating, "There is no such thing. It (CID) got involved on the issue of misbehavior, but you (the media) are running news about 'samosa'."
Sanjeev Ranjan Ojha, Deputy General CID, also spoke out, emphasizing that the matter was an internal CID issue and should not be politicized. He added, "The CM does not eat samosas. We have not issued any notices to anyone. We just asked to find out what happened. The government has nothing to do with this... We will investigate how this information was leaked."
The investigation centers around an order given by an Inspector General (IG) to a sub-inspector to purchase food for the CM's event. However, the samosas and cake were mistakenly served to the CM's staff after a series of miscommunications. The investigation has since identified the officers responsible for the mix-up, but the controversy continues to unfold.
