Justice After 17 Years: Life Sentence for 4 in 2008 Jaipur Blasts
Jaipur (The Uttam Hindu): A Special Court in Jaipur has sentenced four individuals to life imprisonment in connection with the 2008 serial bomb blasts that shook the Pink City. The verdict was delivered today, April 8, following their conviction on April 4.
The court found Shahbaz, Sarwar Azmi, Mohammad Kaif, and a fourth accused guilty of their roles in the coordinated bombings that took place on May 13, 2008. In total, eight blasts occurred across key locations in the city, killing 71 people and injuring over 180 others.
The explosions targeted crowded areas, including Manak Chowk Khanda, Chandpole Gate, Badi Chaupad, Chhoti Chaupad, Tripolia Gate, Johri Bazaar, and Sanganeri Gate — plunging the city into panic and chaos.
After 17 years of investigation and trial, the court's ruling brings long-awaited justice to the victims and their families.
