Pushpa 2 Premiere Tragedy: 9-Year-Old Boy Declared Brain Dead After Deadly Stampede at Hyderabad's Sandhya Theatre
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): As per a post shared by Hyderabad City Police, IPS officer CV Anand and Telangana Government Health Secretary Dr. Christina IAS visited the 9-year-old boy, who was injured during the screening of Pushpa 2 on December 4 at Sandhya Theatre. The boy, who was hurt during the midnight screening of Pushpa 2: The Rule at Hyderabad's Sandhya Theatre, remains in critical condition and was declared brain dead due to lack of breathing.
On Tuesday, Hyderabad City Police Commissioner CV Anand and Telangana Health Secretary Dr. Christina visited KIMS Hospital on behalf of the Telangana Government to inquire about the condition of 9-year-old Sri Teja. According to a post shared by the Hyderabad City Police on X (formerly Twitter), the doctors informed them that the boy is on ventilator support and that his treatment will likely be prolonged. The post also mentioned that a medical bulletin about Sri Teja’s health will be released soon. Health Secretary Dr. Christina stated that they are monitoring Sri Teja’s condition regularly and are hopeful for his recovery. Pushpa 2 star Allu Arjun was arrested after the stampede incident but was later granted bail by the Telangana High Court. The actor shared his concern for the boy on his Instagram handle, informing his followers that due to ongoing legal proceedings, he had been advised not to visit the hospital.

A tragic incident unfolded on December 4 during the midnight premiere of Pushpa 2 at Hyderabad's Sandhya Theatre. After Allu Arjun arrived, he was surrounded by a large crowd of fans, and within moments, the situation spiraled out of control, leading to a stampede. The incident resulted in the death of a woman named Revathy and left several others injured. Meanwhile, Pushpa 2 continues to perform phenomenally at the box office, grossing over Rs 1,400 crore globally. Its nett collections in India are also expected to surpass the Rs 1,000 crore mark soon.
