Modi attends lavish wedding of diamond trader's son in Surat, Gujarat

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the wedding of Dravya Dholakia, son of Surat-based diamond baron Savji Dholakia, on October 28 in Gujarat. The ceremony took place at Het Ni Haveli in Dudhala, where PM Modi arrived by helicopter to join the celebrations hosted by one of Surat's wealthiest individuals. In photographs shared by the family, Modi can be seen bestowing blessings upon the newlyweds.

Dravya Dholakia married Jahnvi, the daughter of real estate businessman Bharat Chaludiya. Savji Dholakia, founder and chairman of the Hari Krishna Group, mentioned that he extended the invitation to the Prime Minister during a meeting in Delhi. In an Instagram post, Dholakia expressed gratitude for Modi's presence at the wedding, saying, “Today, as Dravya and Jahnvi venture on their new journey, we feel immensely blessed to have had none other than the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modiji join us in this moment of joy."

Savji Dholakia is well-known for his generosity towards employees, having previously gifted luxury cars and substantial bonuses. Notably, in 2017, he gifted 1,200 Datsun cars to his employees during Diwali and awarded a Diwali bonus of Rs 51 crore in 2016, along with 1,260 cars and 400 flats. At the wedding, PM Modi was seen engaging warmly with the families, and the bride and groom were captured on video touching his feet to seek his blessings, marking a memorable occasion for all involved.
