Haryana's Hero! Narendra Conquers Antarctica's Highest Peak in -52°C, Hoists Indian Flag

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Hailing from Rewari district in Haryana, mountaineer Narendra Singh Yadav hoisted the Indian flag on the highest peak of Antarctica, Vinson Massif, at 1:42 AM on December 25. Narendra completed the climb in six days, starting from the base camp, during which the temperature on the mountain was -52°C. This expedition saw participation from mountaineers across the globe. Narendra Singh Yadav is a resident of Nehrugadh village in the Kosli town of Rewari. Born in a simple family, Narendra has made India proud globally through his hard work and determination.


The expedition was sponsored by Spark Minda, and Narendra thanked Ashok Minda during the event, stating that his achievements were a result of his perseverance despite coming from an ordinary family. Narendra Singh Yadav holds several world records. His father serves in the Indian Army, and Narendra's dream was to conquer the highest peaks of all seven continents and secure a place in the world records. He realized this dream by conquering Vinson Massif. Narendra has successfully scaled the highest peaks of all seven continents, achieving numerous world records along the way.

He completed various significant mountaineering courses, including the Basics of Mountaineering in 2012, Advanced in 2013, Methods of Instruction (MOI) in 2015, and Search and Rescue in 2022. Narendra scaled Mount Everest in just six days in both 2016 and 2022. He has also conquered Mount Elbrus twice and Mount Kilimanjaro four times, along with summiting the ten highest peaks in Australia, including Mount Kosciuszko, three times. Furthermore, he has conquered the highest peaks in South America (Aconcagua) and North America (Denali). Narendra's journey in mountaineering began at the age of 12 during his school days, when he started climbing the hills in Jammu and Kashmir. He began formal mountaineering practice in 2008.
