Good news for Mata Vaishno Devi devotees: Sacred cave doors to open soon – Find out the date

Reasi (The Uttam Hindu): Devotees visiting Mata Vaishno Devi will be pleased to know that the doors of the ancient, golden-embellished cave will be opened on January 14, coinciding with Makar Sankranti. Devotees have been eagerly awaiting this moment.

Traditionally, on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti, after the rituals and prayers, the doors of the golden-embellished, sacred, and ancient cave of Mata Vaishno Devi are opened by priests and pandits for the devotees. In 2024, a total of 94.83 lakh devotees visited the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine. This was shared by the CEO of the Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, who mentioned that this was the second-highest number of pilgrims in a decade.


For the third consecutive year, the number of visitors to the temple has exceeded 90 lakh. Last year, the number surpassed 95 lakh, and in 2012, it crossed one crore. In the year 2022, the number of devotees visiting the shrine each month was as follows: 438,521 in January, 361,074 in February, 778,669 in March, 902,192 in April, 986,766 in May, 1,129,231 in June, 907,542 in July, 877,762 in August, and 828,382 in September. In 2012, over one crore devotees visited the shrine.
