Anger Erupts After Pahalgam Attack: 'Pakistani Not Allowed' Posters in Agra Hotels

Agra (The Uttam Hindu): After the brutal targeting of tourists in Pahalgam, Kashmir, public anger against Pakistan is intensifying across the country. Reflecting this sentiment, some hotels in Agra's Tajganj area have put up posters declaring 'Pakistanis Not Allowed.'

Posters have been spotted at Hotel Siddharth and Lucky Guest House, displayed prominently at the entrance gates and reception areas. Siddharth Arora, owner of Hotel Siddharth, stated that their hotel already had a policy of not accommodating Pakistani tourists. However, after the Pahalgam incident, they decided to make this policy publicly visible through posters.

While the number of Pakistani tourists visiting Agra is minimal, Indian regulations require hotels to file a C-form with the local police station and the Local Intelligence Unit (LIU) within 24 hours of a foreign national's check-in. Pakistani nationals, in particular, are subject to stricter reporting norms. Their visas also specify the particular area and locality where they are permitted to stay.

To avoid procedural complications and potential risks, many budget hotel operators in Agra have traditionally refused accommodation to Pakistani tourists. The recent terror attack has only reinforced this informal practice, prompting visible signs banning Pakistani nationals from entry.
