Varanasi (The Uttam Hindu): In a decisive move to curb the dangers posed by Chinese manjha (kite string), the Varanasi police have announced a complete ban on its sale and use. The authorities have declared that both buyers and sellers of Chinese manjha will face equal legal consequences. To enforce this ban, the administration will also employ drones to monitor the use of Chinese manjha in the area.

The police will identify and take action against those selling Chinese manjha. In addition, they assured that any tip-offs regarding the sale of Chinese manjha will be treated with confidentiality. Both the sellers and buyers of the hazardous kite string will be subject to legal action. The administration emphasized that individuals purchasing Chinese manjha show a disregard for public safety, and therefore, action will be taken against them as well.

This move is expected to lead to a complete prohibition of Chinese manjha use across the district. The police will utilize drones to detect individuals flying kites with Chinese manjha and take appropriate action. Parents and guardians have been urged to ensure that their children do not engage in the dangerous practice of flying kites with Chinese manjha. District Magistrate officials stressed that it is the responsibility of parents to prevent such activities. The police also warned that if a minor is found using Chinese manjha, their parents will face legal consequences.

Action Against Parents and Adults In cases where minors are caught using Chinese manjha, their parents will be summoned to the local police station for action. Similarly, adults found violating the ban on Chinese manjha will face stringent penalties. This step by the Varanasi police aims to safeguard public safety and prevent any further incidents related to the use of Chinese manjha.
