Drama Unfolds in Maharashtra: Eknath Shinde’s Entry into New Government Hangs by a Thread!
Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): The political situation in Maharashtra remains tense as discussions over the formation of the new government continue. A swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for 5:30 PM today at Azad Maidan, where Devendra Fadnavis will take the oath as Chief Minister and Ajit Pawar as Deputy CM. However, the question of whether Eknath Shinde will take the oath remains unclear.
Shinde is firm on holding the Home Ministry, while the BJP is keen on keeping it under their control. Deepak Kesarkar, a Shiv Sena leader supporting Shinde, stated that it would be Shinde’s decision whether he takes the oath as Deputy CM or not. He emphasized that if Shinde decides not to be part of the government, no one from Shiv Sena will remain either, and they all want him in the government.
Kesarkar further mentioned that Shinde is considering the matter carefully. He listens to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, and if they send a message, Shinde is likely to follow through. Uday Samant also expressed the need for Shinde to be the Deputy CM and clarified that, as of now, it is uncertain whether Shinde will take the oath. He assured that Shinde would make a final decision on this within the next hour.
