PM Modi accorded guard of honour at Kuwait's bayan palace
Kuwait City (The Uttam Hindu): Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a ceremonial Guard of Honour at Kuwait's Bayan Palace on Sunday, marking a significant moment in his two-day visit to the Gulf nation. The ceremony was attended by Kuwaiti Prime Minister Mohammed Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah.This visit is the first by an Indian Prime Minister to Kuwait in 43 years. During his visit, PM Modi is scheduled to hold separate high-level meetings with the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the Crown Prince of Kuwait.
Delegation-level talks will follow with the Kuwaiti Prime Minister focusing on strengthening bilateral relations across several areas including politics, trade, investment, energy, culture, and people-to-people ties. PM Modi arrived in Kuwait on Saturday afternoon and was warmly welcomed. He then visited a labor camp in the Mina Abdullah area where he interacted with Indian workers inquiring about their well-being and highlighting government welfare initiatives for overseas citizens. Later, PM Modi addressed a large gathering of the Indian diaspora at the 'Hala Modi' event at the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Indoor Sports Complex in Kuwait City. He commended the Indian community's contributions to enhancing India-Kuwait relations and extended invitations to attend events such as Pravasi Bharatiya Divas and the Maha Kumbh next month. This visit aims to further strengthen India's ties with Kuwait building on cooperation in political, economic and cultural areas with an emphasis on mutual growth and development.
