Security Cover for Bikram Majithia Reduced, Not Removed: Punjab Police

Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): The Punjab Police on Wednesday dismissed reports claiming that the security cover of Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia had been completely withdrawn. Officials clarified that his security has only been reduced following a reassessment of potential threats, not entirely removed.

A Punjab Police spokesperson stated that the adjustment was made based on the latest recommendations from the security review committee. They further explained that the security of any prominent individual is periodically reviewed and modified as per threat evaluations.

The spokesperson assured that Majithia still retains adequate security, including escort vehicles and a sufficient number of armed guards, ensuring his protection as per protocol. Officials reiterated that such security decisions are routine and based solely on threat assessments rather than political considerations.
