Wedding Called Off After Groom’s Low CIBIL Score Shocks Bride’s Family
Murtijapur (The Uttam Hindu): A unique incident has come to light in Murtijapur, Maharashtra, where a marriage broke due to a poor CIBIL score. Usually banks refuse to give loans due to poor CIBIL score, but this is probably the first case of a marriage breaking.
According to a Times of India report, the incident took place when the bride and groom's families were meeting to finalise the wedding. During the conversation, the bride's uncle requested to check the groom's CIBIL score.
The uncle took the groom's PAN card and checked his CIBIL score online. The bride's family was shocked to see the result. The groom had loans from many banks and his CIBIL score was also quite low. A low CIBIL score indicates that the person has a bad credit history and has defaulted on loan repayments earlier as well.
The bride's uncle argued that a financially troubled groom would not be able to provide financial security to his wife. Other members of the bride's family also agreed with this opinion and the marriage proposal was cancelled.
What is CIBIL score?
CIBIL score is a three-digit number that reflects a person's credit history. It ranges from 300 to 900. A high CIBIL score indicates good financial management, while a low score indicates financial risk. CIBIL score is used by banks and financial institutions to evaluate loan applications to determine whether the applicant is able to repay the loan
