New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): All immigrants living in America, whether they are on legal visas like H1B or student visa, will now be required to keep their legal documents with them 24 hours a day. This new rule has been implemented by the government of US President Donald Trump and has come into effect from April 11. This order has been brought under the 'Protecting The American People Against Invasion' policy, which aims to crack down on illegal immigrants living in America. The US court has approved this rule.

What is the new rule?

All non-citizens (aged 14 years or more) staying in the US for 30 days or more must register with the government by filling Form G-325R. For children under 14 years of age, their parents must complete this process. People entering the US after April 11 are required to register within 30 days. Violating the rule can result in a fine, jail or both.

Other provisions in the rule:

If an immigrant changes his address, he is required to notify the new address within 10 days. Failure to do so can result in a fine of up to $5,000. Immigrants whose children are turning 14 will have to re-register and submit fingerprints as well. This rule is part of the Trump administration's campaign to reiterate its commitment to end illegal immigration from the US.
