Tempo Traveller Carrying Airline Staff Crashes into Parked Plane at Bengaluru Airport — What Happened Next?

Bengaluru (The Uttam Hindu): A major plane accident was averted on Friday afternoon at Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport. Here a tempo traveler vehicle hit a parked Indigo Airlines plane. In this collision, the driver of the tempo traveler suffered minor injuries, but there was no major damage to the plane.

The accident took place on Friday, 18 April 2025 at around 12:15 pm. The Tempo Traveller was on its way to drop the airline staff to their designated location. According to a statement issued by IndiGo, the aircraft that was hit was parked at 'Alpha Parking Bay 71' for engine repairs and was in a non-operational condition.

IndiGo has said that the accident occurred due to the negligence of the Tempo Traveller driver. The upper part of the vehicle and the driver's side were badly damaged in the collision, and the windscreen was also broken. However, there was no major damage to the aircraft in this accident.

Confirming the incident, a Bengaluru airport spokesperson said it was a vehicle operated by a third party ground handling agency that collided with the undercarriage of a non-operational aircraft. He said no other person was reported injured in the incident, only the driver of the Tempo Traveller suffered minor injuries. All necessary protocols have been followed in coordination with the concerned stakeholders and the safety of passengers and airport personnel is their top priority.

Pictures of the incident have gone viral on social media, in which the Tempo Traveller can be seen badly damaged. The matter is being investigated to find out the exact cause of the accident.
