Sri Lankan Navy arrested 32 Indian fishermen, seized five boats
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu)- There are reports of Indian fishermen being arrested by Sri Lankan authorities. According to the information, 32 Indian fishermen have been arrested for entering the waters of the island nation.
Their five fishing boats have also been seized by the officials. The Sri Lankan Navy said in a statement that these people were arrested during a special operation in the sea area north of Mannar. The statement said that five Indian fishing boats were seized and 32 Indian fishermen were arrested. The Navy said that the arrested fishermen and their boats were brought to Talaimannar Pier, where they will be handed over to the Fisheries Inspector of Mannar for legal action. According to the statement, the Navy has arrested 131 Indian fishermen so far this year. During this period, 18 boats fishing illegally in Sri Lankan waters have been seized
