Punjab weather alert issued: Meteorological department warns of changes

Update: 2024-11-25 04:12 GMT

Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): Due to recent snowfall in the mountains, a slight change in weather patterns is being observed in the plains of Punjab. The Meteorological Department has forecasted that dense fog will prevail in the state starting from November 27. However, there is no expectation of rain in the near future, and the weather is likely to remain dry. The department has also reported a significant decrease in rainfall this season, with precipitation in Punjab being 99% lower than usual. Typically, the state records around 3.5 mm of rainfall by November 23, but this year, the rainfall has been minimal.

In addition to the dry weather, the air quality in Punjab and Chandigarh has become a growing concern. Air pollution levels are rising, exacerbating health risks for residents. The combination of fog, dry conditions, and pollution has created a challenging situation for people in the region. The Meteorological Department's warning of dense fog raises concerns about visibility and road safety, especially during the early mornings and late evenings. As the winter season progresses, the impact of these weather changes is expected to be felt more acutely, with the potential for further deterioration in air quality.
