Pahalgam Attack Update: PM Modi Holds High-Level Meeting with NSA Doval, Defence Minister and Key Officials
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): In the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack, India has shifted into action mode against Pakistan. A high-level meeting was convened at the Prime Minister's residence, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to discuss the country's strategy against terrorism.
Key Officials Present in the Meeting
The meeting was attended by top officials, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi and Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi. The meeting aimed to prepare a robust strategy against terrorists and discuss ongoing operations.
India has already taken several tough decisions against Pakistan. The Indus Water Treaty of 1960 has been suspended, and it will only be restored when Pakistan stops supporting cross-border terrorism. Additionally, the Attari Integrated Check Post has been closed with immediate effect, and those who have come to India through this route with valid documents have been asked to return to Pakistan by May 1.
Pakistan High Commission Advisers Declared 'Persona Non Grata'
Furthermore, the Defence, Naval, and Air Force advisers of the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi have been declared 'persona non grata'. This move is seen as a strong diplomatic measure against Pakistan. The developments come after a terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which killed 26 people and injured dozens. Pakistan is reportedly on high alert, with the Shahbaz government fearing that the Indian Army may take strict action against Pakistan.
