New Forensic Findings in RG Kar Rape-Murder Case: Mattress Shows No Struggle Evidence
Kolkata (The Uttam Hindu): The Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) has released a report containing several startling revelations in the rape-murder case of a trainee doctor from RG Kar Medical College Hospital in Kolkata. The 12-page report raises critical questions about the crime scene and the sequence of events.
According to the report, no evidence was found in the seminar room to suggest that the trainee doctor was raped and murdered there. The final lines of the 12th page state that there were no signs of struggle at the location where the body was discovered. Additionally, no scuffle marks were found on the mattress where the body was placed. These findings suggest the possibility that the rape and murder may have occurred elsewhere, with the body later being moved to the seminar room. Blood stains were observed only on the head and below the abdomen area on the mattress, further supporting this theory.
The incident occurred on the night of 8-9 August, and the CBI is currently investigating the case. The main accused, Sanjay Roy, remains in police custody. A chargesheet was filed by the agency in the special CBI court on 7 October. According to the postmortem report, released on 12 August, the trainee doctor was raped before being strangled to death. The crime is believed to have taken place between 3 and 5 a.m.
The chargesheet includes evidence such as the statements of 100 witnesses, 12 polygraph test reports, CCTV footage, forensic analysis, mobile call records, and location data. Notably, on the day of the incident, the accused’s earphones were connected to his mobile via Bluetooth, a detail deemed significant. Furthermore, forensic testing confirmed that semen and blood samples recovered from the victim matched those of the accused. Hair strands found at the scene were also matched to the accused.
